I decided to follow a passion and took a deep dive into the world of
mead and wine tasting. After a rather solitary engineering position, what I craved more than anything was working face to face with as many people as I could. Working in a meadery tasting room has taught me how to talk to just about anyone and has deepened my understanding of food, drink, cooking, and how to create something that people want.
At Integrity my focus was to port a legacy server provisioning process to new versions of just about everything: motherboard, server chassis, node.js, python, CentOS, HSM, TPM, and documentation. In 2023 I gained a mentee who helped me greatly and gave me a chance to brush up on teaching and managing skills.
In June, I left Integrity for some time off. I moved across the country (twice), helped my parents prepare my childhood home for selling, SCUBA dived, freedived, windsurfed, normal surfed, skied, rock climbed, backpacked the Caribbean, played as a street musician, started volunteering at Crisis Text Line, performed one embarrassing slam poem, and finally settled in San Diego.
Having just graduated in December, I began working as a Software Engineer at a company that provides manufacturers with servers to perform secure cryptographic operations at a high volume.
I inherited ownership of the server provisioning process, a legacy codebase that configured blank servers with our software before we sent them to customers. I spent my time making this process faster, more reliable, and more understandable.
